Why are Lenova laptops so expensive?

I’ve heard people claim that Lenova is the BMW of laptops. 2 years ago I took a statistics class in college and our computer lab had Lenova laptops. They were ok, nothing impressive though. I started customizing laptops online to what I wanted and the Dell and HP laptops were both around $1,500, but the Lenova was over $2k. Why? Lenova seems to be a lot like Mac. They have a good reputation, but they are a lot more expensive than other companies and I don’t see much of a quality difference. Am I a fool or what? Why would I pay over $2k for a Lenova laptop when I can get the same exact specs in a Dell or HP for $600 less?

Because they are not intended to be average consumer laptops – they are targeted at business users and thus are built with higher quality parts, etc.
